Sip a Singapore Sling in Singapore

Singapore's cocktail culture is growing. The city-state was once known mostly for its exotic cocktails and mixology, but it's come a long way in recent years.

Singapore's cocktail culture has been influenced by its British colonial era, when the British brought with them their love of spirits and gin-based drinks. It was also heavily influenced by America during World War II when American soldiers stationed in Singapore drank at local bars and clubs like Raffles Hotel Bar & Lounge (now known as Raffles Hotel) or The Long Bar at Dukes Hotel (now part of Marina Bay Sands).

Here are some of the best bars in Singapore to enjoy a cocktail or two.

The Botanist: If you're looking for something a bit more luxurious, we recommend The Botanist. This bar is located on the top floor of Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore's Central Business District (CBD). The view from here is amazing and there are plenty of food options if you get hungry while drinking!

The Tippling Club: The Tippling Club is a bar that's been around for over 10 years and is still going strong. It's located at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, so you can expect an upscale atmosphere and great service. The staff are well trained in their craft, which means that they'll know how to make any cocktail you ask them for (or even if you just want a glass of wine). If you're feeling adventurous, try one of their signature drinks like "The Good Morning," a mix of gin, orange juice and champagne; or "The Whiskey Sour," made with whiskey and lemon juice.

If you're looking for an evening out with friends or colleagues where everyone has something different going on but still comes together as one big group--this could be the place!

HUSH: is a rooftop bar and restaurant located at Marina Bay Sands, with a great view of Singapore's skyline. It has an extensive cocktail menu and an equally impressive wine list--the perfect place for you to sip on some cocktails before dinner or after a show!

Cocktails are a quintessential part of any night out in London. There's nothing better than enjoying one at a fabulous cocktail bar with your friends. These bars offer the best cocktails and atmosphere in the city—so if you're looking for somewhere to get your drink on, check them out!

The Gibson: is located in the heart of Covent Garden and has a speakeasy vibe. The cocktails are excellent and the service is great. The food is also really good!

Callooh Callay: is located in Shoreditch and is inspired by the flavours of the Orient. The designers have created a library-style space with several different rooms, which gives it a unique feel and makes it easy to find your own spot if you're looking for some quiet time. The cocktails are served in teacups and can be enjoyed while listening to jazz music or chatting with friends over dinner.

Happiness Forgets: is located in the heart of Covent Garden, and as such it's an ideal spot for a pre- or post-theatre tipple. The cocktails are made with fresh ingredients, so they're always going to be delicious--and the decor has that hipster edge that makes it perfect for Instagramming. The menu changes regularly, but you can expect to find classics like the Old Fashioned and Negroni alongside newer creations (like their take on a gin daiquiri).

33|45: is the most sophisticated bar in Barcelona, and it's also one of the oldest. Located near Gaudi's famous La Pedrera, this bar has been serving up cocktails since 1934. The interior is dark and moody but with a modern edge, making it perfect for an evening out with friends or a romantic date night.

The cocktail menu changes regularly and features classic drinks like mojitos, as well as creative creations from their talented bartenders (some of whom have competed internationally). If you're going with friends who aren't sure what they want to drink yet, ask for recommendations from their experienced staff!

Enjoy a Cosmopolitan in New York

New York City is the home of some of the most iconic drink recipes on Earth. Whether it's an old fashioned or a cosmopolitan, there are dozens of ways to enjoy a cocktail in this city. If you're looking for something new, here are some places that will make your taste buds sing!

The Dead Rabbit: This Irish bar was named the World's Best Bar in 2016, and it's easy to see why. The drinks are like works of art--they're so intricate that they take hours to make, and you'll have a hard time deciding which ones to order. You can't go wrong with either their classic cocktails or their modern twists on old favorites.

Attaboy: Attaboy is known for its inventive drinks that mix traditional ingredients with unexpected ones (hello, bacon-infused bourbon). If you're looking for something fun but not too crazy, try one of their signature punches--you get three different kinds in one glass!

Death & Co.: This cocktail bar has an extensive menu with plenty of options for everyone from beginners all the way up through seasoned pros who want something new every time they visit this East Village hotspot.

PDT: If you're looking for a bar with an interesting backstory and a cool vibe, PDT is your place. Located in New York City's Lower East Side, the bar has become known for its use of obscure ingredients (like house-made bitters and syrups) and Prohibition-era aesthetic.

The name stands for "Please Don't Tell," which was the password used by members of a secret society who gathered at this location during Prohibition. While it's not clear whether they were drinking cocktails or just playing cards, one thing is certain: they were having fun!

Cocktail bars are every bit as varied as the cocktails they serve, but at their essence are bars that offer a well-conceived selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. Whether you're a party animal looking for a crazy evening or have an nightcap; whether your tastes run to the offbeat like mezcal and tequila or classic gin and tonic, there's a cocktail bar out there for you.
